Background of the Study
Road safety is a critical public issue, and effective communication of safety protocols can significantly reduce traffic accidents and fatalities. In Lafia, Nasarawa State, digital animation is being evaluated as a tool to enhance road safety awareness. Digital animation offers a dynamic way to present safety messages, transforming complex data and statistics into engaging visual narratives that are easier for the public to understand and remember (Ibrahim, 2023). Through animated scenarios, viewers can witness the consequences of unsafe driving behaviors and learn best practices for road use in a risk-free virtual environment. This medium enables the depiction of realistic traffic situations, including the effects of speed, distraction, and impaired driving, in a manner that is both educational and emotionally impactful (Afolabi, 2024). The use of digital animation in road safety campaigns has been associated with increased viewer engagement, improved message retention, and a stronger call to action compared to traditional static advertisements. This study will assess the effectiveness of animated road safety messages by analyzing audience reception, comprehension, and behavioral changes following exposure to animated content. The research will also explore the production process of digital animation, including script development, visual design, and dissemination strategies, to identify the elements that contribute most significantly to its success. Overall, the study aims to provide empirical evidence on the benefits of using digital animation to promote road safety awareness and to recommend strategies for optimizing such campaigns in Lafia (Chinwe, 2024).

Statement of the Problem
Traditional road safety campaigns in Lafia often rely on posters, radio broadcasts, and text-based messages that may not effectively capture public attention or convey critical safety information. These methods tend to be static and less engaging, leading to limited retention and behavioral change among drivers and pedestrians (Ibrahim, 2023). The absence of dynamic visual tools in safety campaigns results in a communication gap that undermines the effectiveness of road safety initiatives. Despite the potential of digital animation to offer a more engaging medium, its adoption in road safety awareness remains minimal due to factors such as high production costs, limited technical expertise, and inadequate dissemination channels (Afolabi, 2024). Furthermore, there is a dearth of research investigating the impact of animated safety messages on the attitudes and behaviors of road users in Nasarawa State. This study seeks to address these issues by evaluating how digital animation can enhance the delivery and impact of road safety messages. It will examine the clarity, appeal, and effectiveness of animated content in changing perceptions and behaviors related to road safety. Additionally, the study will identify challenges in the production and implementation of digital animation campaigns and propose measures to overcome these obstacles. The goal is to develop a more effective, evidence-based approach to road safety communication that leverages the strengths of digital animation to save lives and reduce accidents (Chinwe, 2024).

Objectives of the Study
• To evaluate the impact of digital animation on road safety awareness.
• To assess changes in attitudes and behaviors among road users following exposure to animated safety messages.
• To identify production and dissemination challenges and propose optimization strategies.

Research Questions
• How does digital animation improve the comprehension of road safety messages?
• What behavioral changes are observed after exposure to animated safety campaigns?
• What are the key challenges in producing and disseminating digital animations for road safety?

Significance of the Study
This study is significant as it explores the innovative use of digital animation to enhance road safety awareness, potentially reducing accidents and saving lives (Ibrahim, 2023). The findings will offer actionable insights for public safety agencies and media professionals in Lafia, guiding the development of more effective safety campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences (Afolabi, 2024).

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study is limited to evaluating digital animation as a tool for enhancing road safety awareness in Lafia, Nasarawa State. It focuses exclusively on animated content and does not cover other communication media.
